COME FROM AWAY CELEBRATES NEWFOUNDLANDERS OPENING THEIR ARMS TO STRANDED TRAVELLERS ON 9/11

Apple TV+’ Come from Away, the filmed adaptation of the hit Broadway musical about what happened on that terrible day, 9/11/2001 in Gander, Newfoundland, shows how fresh the wounds of that day still feel, twenty years on. There was an unexpected bright spot in the midst of the tragedy – the coming together of 7000 international plane passengers rerouted away from New York airspace to Gander. The town’s size doubled in a few hours as plane after plane landed. How would Gander feed, clothe and soothe the hearts of stressed strangers seeking refuge? That’s the beautiful part. What She Said’ Anne Brodie spoke with actors Astrid Van Wieren, Caesar Samayoa and Sharon Wheatley about this once-in-a-lifetime musical experience.
